Lockdown Thoughts: Here we go again
And so, the national lockdown begins…
Last night, the prime minister gave the nation clear
instructions – stay home! It is a grim thought, reminding us of the isolation
many people experience eleven months ago throughout the duration of springtime.
Shops shut and schools closed. For the next few weeks, seats in places such as
theatres, offices, and classrooms, will all sit empty, waiting for us to, one
day, return to the crowd. Until then, the
mission is simple. Take care of others and yourself by following the government
guidance.
So, what are you going to do this lockdown? Maybe, you want
to shed a few pounds gained by devouring excess festive treats. Perhaps, you would
enjoy finishing a book or binge-watching a new series. Or are you more inclined
to start baking and decisively strike a new health regime. There are courses available,
books to read, charities to support, miles to be run, fitness goals to be met,
people to quiz, meals to be cooked and much more. By coming up with a routine,
or sort of structure to your day, the impact of the lockdown will be diluted and
suddenly, you will feel an important sense of self-worth as we battle through social
isolation.
Everyday, I will try and write a post so that, similarly, I
am able to intersect any boredom, instead re-shaping this feeling into more
pragmatic motivation. Indeed, some of us will be working from home, others
learning, and others doing neither. However, in your free time, try and keep physically
and mentally moving.
Soon the vaccine will be shoved into your arm.
Soon after, normality will return, and lockdowns will be a distant
memory as we gather in social settings and smile.
For now, here we go again...
Dream of that Greek island you'll be sitting on this time next year...
Thank you for reading!
Have a lovely day.
